The main application period for vocational upper secondary education and training is in the spring, annually. You can also apply through the rolling application procedure for studies that start during the school year.

Who can apply?

• Students apply for the vocational qualification in music at Turku Conservatory through an entrance examination and an aptitude test. Your school grades do not matter, the result depends only on the entrance examination and the aptitude test.
• Applicants must have a strong past of using their instrument and knowledge of the basics of music (music literacy/music theory)
• In addition to skills and knowledge, it will be beneficial to you if you have experience of practical tasks, such as performing.
• Education is primarily aimed at those who lack a vocational or higher education degree
• There is no maximum age limit for applying.
• Vocational education and training is available in Finnish, so applicants must have sufficient language skills to successfully complete their studies in Finnish.

When applying, please note:  

We use application units in student admissions. Applicants are divided into application units:

• By instrument (qualification parts that include instrument training) and
• By previous education (comprehensive school/general upper secondary school, vocational education and training, higher education)

Application for the triple degree

• Choose Puolalanmäki upper secondary school for music as the first option in the joint application process
• Choose vocational upper secondary qualification at Turku Conservatory as some other option
• In addition to the joint application form, fill in Turku Conservatory’s own additional information form in which you can mention the triple degree
• There will be a separate interview for the upper secondary school for music
