Rhythm music bands

In Turku Conservatory’s band teaching under the basic education in the arts, all students interested in playing in a band can practise it.

The bands are formed in the autumn based on playing and singing experience, and the bands meet weekly throughout the academic year. The bands may have a traditional distribution of instruments (electric guitar, electric bass, keyboard, drums, wind instruments and singing) or, for example, a group of one instrument (such as a drum ensemble).

Performances are an important part of band activities. The aim is to prepare rhythmic music for three to five concerts during the school year
