The Children’s Music Festival was a flurry of activities
The Children’s Music Festival 2026 had a total of just under seven thousand visitors. On Friday 20 March at 18:00 in Sigyn Hall, the Children’s Music Festival will be followed by a post-show performance of Happiness Lost, produced by the Arkipelag Music School.
For the nineteenth time, the Turku Conservatory and the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra joined forces to present a programme for children. The week-long event has established itself as a showcase for children’s culture in our sub-region, with many partners involved in addition to the main organisers.
The largest audience at last year’s event was of course the concert by the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra’s Aave Pyykkinarulla, but there were also a pleasingly large number of events. Mestarinkatu Tree Day exceeded expectations in terms of both content and audience, and Sigyn Hall was packed with Mimmit and Suuri kitaraorkesteri, among others. The Tutti Frutti production also reached a large audience – in addition to the three hundred people in attendance, almost two hundred watched the live webcast. The total audience for the events was just over 6,800 people.
Next year, the Children’s Music Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary. What could be more fitting than that the orchestra has moved to Fuuga and that children’s music is presented in a fantastic new setting. The 2027 Children’s Music Festival will take place during week 11, 13-21 March 2027.
The application period for the Turku Conservatory is now open and will close on 30 April. Welcome to the music hobby for all of you who will be performing at the Children’s Music Festival in the coming years!
TFO’s spring programme still includes Junior Club evenings for children at the Concert Hall on 1 April and 6 May and at the Lauste suburban house on 19 May, and Babies Music Date Night at the Concert Hall on 13 April.
