The traditional entertainment concert at the beginning of the year is this year served in the spirit of the iconic Georg Malmstén. Clarinettist Juhana Karjalainen is the soloist of the Finnish Navy Band, interpreting Artie Shaw’s witty and brilliant concerto with a jazzy feel. There will also be swinging action, including Mexican music.
At its best, almost a hundred musicians will be on stage, joined by the Aura Wind Band from the Turku Conservatory and the Turku VPK brass band. The music of the iconic Georg Malmstén will transport you to a maritime atmosphere. The concert includes the familiar Mikkihiiri merihädässä, Terveiset ulapalta and the evergreen waltz Leila sung by Juha Ketola and Jari Koivisto.
