FLEN is a chord-free jazz group with members from Sweden and Denmark who have been working together since 2021. Drawing inspiration from the formidable combination of Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry, Archie Shepp, as well as the Swedish towns of Flen, Årsta and Trelleborg, FLEN’s sound has continued to take shape and grow over the last years.

On their upcoming second full-length album, the band expands its expression to incorporate several styles adjacent to jazz, creating space for the members’ strengths both as soloists and composers. With touches of boogie, pop ballads, and Scandinavian melancholy, there is room for both humor and intimacy. The album will be released in November 2026 on the newly founded label Gutophone Records.

At Monday Jazz Happening, the evening’s band always plays the first set, starting at 7 pm. After the performance, the evening continues with a jam session where music students, enthusiasts and professional jazz musicians come together.
