Pop and jazz instruments
Pop and jazz music is taught at Turku Conservatory in both vocational education and basic education in the arts.
You can study pop and jazz music with the following instruments:
- singing
- piano and keyboard instruments
- electric guitar and acoustic guitar
- ukulele and electric ukulele
- electric and double bass
- violin and electric violin
- drums
- saxophone
- trumpet
- trombone
In pop and jazz music studies, students learn more about the different styles of rhythmic music, from swing to modern pop music and fusion, and from blues to rock and heavy music. The objective is to gain good technical control of the instrument and natural self-expression through music.
In addition to training with instruments, the students have the opportunity to participate in the institution’s band activities – there are bands for both beginners and more advanced musicians and singers. Students can also participate in music technology and song writing courses.
All children, young people and adults can apply to study pop and jazz music, regardless of their music or singing experience.
