MUSIC PLAYSCHOOL

When signing up to groups, please read the timetable first. There are music playschool groups from those for babies aged three months to groups for six-year-olds. The timetable shows the child’s year of birth, the day on which the group meets, the time of day, the location and the available student places (in Finnish).

Please note that the available places in the timetable are not updated continuously. If a group is already full, you can still sign up to it, in which case you will be placed in a queue for a possible vacancy. Babies, one-year-olds and two-year-olds are in family groups together with their familiar adult. A three-year-old child can participate either together with their parent (indicated in the timetable with aik.) or alone with other children of the same age. The three-year-olds who participate alone should have turned three by August at the latest. The duration of the music playschool lesson for 5–6-year-olds is 60 minutes, and 45 minutes for other groups. Read more here.

Teaching for the school year 2024–2025 is ongoing. You can ask for any spare vacancies to the music playschool groups by contacting Pauliina Sirkiä, Lecturer in early childhood music education, pauliina.sirkia(at)turunkonservatorio.fi.

The tuition fee for the music playschool in the school year 2024–2025 is €146 per child per semester, regardless of the duration of the lessons.

If you have questions about the music playschool or sign-up, contact Pauliina Sirkiä, Lecturer in early childhood music education: pauliina.sirkia(at)turunkonservatorio.fi, tel. +358 40 485 6484.

Application stages

  • The applicant (or guardian of a person under 18 years of age) fills in the application form for the instrument of their choice online
  • A student transferring from another music school can be admitted to Turku Conservatory without a selection phase based on their previous music studies.
  • Meeting
    • Applicants without previous music studies are invited to a meeting where they are told about music studies in the form of informal discussion. Practising at home is an essential part of the studies, and it requires strong support at home. The meeting’s purpose is to provide a study guidance discussion that helps make the introduction of a new hobby as smooth as possible.
    • You will receive instructions for selecting a time for the appointment by email.

Student place

  • Notification about the student place is sent by email
  • Accepting the place
    • You can accept a place by logging in to Wilma according to the instructions provided.
  • Those who have been chosen and who have accepted their student place in Wilma will receive the teacher’s contact details by email before the teaching begins

Music education for people with special needs

Students with special needs can sign up for music and singing instruction the same way as for other basic education in the arts. New students are usually first directed to individual instruction and, as their studies progress, also to ensemble playing groups.
