Music and singing lessons

Turku Conservatory teaches the advanced syllabus of music of the basic education of the arts to people of all ages, primarily children and young people. Our goal is that all new, enthusiastic musicians can dive into the world of music with us. No previous experience is needed, as we start with the basics, either through individual or small group teaching.

The advanced syllabus of music consists of six study modules: instrument studies, ensemble playing, music perception, music technology, creative skills and optional studies. We welcome both beginners and young musicians who have been taking music or singing lessons for a long time. The applicant can select any of the instruments included in the Turku Conservatory curriculum as their musical instrument. Basic education in the arts is subject to tuition fees. lukukausimaksua.

Pop and jazz music

In pop and jazz music studies, students learn more about the different styles of rhythmic music, from swing to modern pop music and fusion, and from blues to rock and heavy music. The objective is to gain good technical control of the instrument and natural self-expression through music. 

In addition to training with instruments, the students have the opportunity to participate in band activities – there are bands for both beginners and more advanced musicians and singers. Students can also participate in music technology and song writing courses.

All children, young people and adults can apply to study pop and jazz music, regardless of their music or singing experience.

Folk music

In addition to Finnish folk music, the students learn about other musical cultures in the world. The key objectives of folk music teaching are technical and expressive control of the instrument, playing by ear and creativeness in music. The dance dimension of folk music is reflected in the emphasis on having good swing, rhythm and groove. The studies focus on composing, improvisation and finding and developing your own diverse way to be a musician. 

In addition to private lessons, the studies include an opportunity to join the folk music band that is open to all instruments and group teaching for your instrument (teacher-specific). All children, young people and adults can apply to study folk music, regardless of their music or singing experience.
