”FLEN is an experimental chordless jazz group consisting of young jazz musicians with origins in both Sweden and Denmark. They met in Stockholm in 2021 and have since then recorded two albums, and played concerts regularly in Scandinavia.

In 2023 they released their first full-length album ””Välkommen till””, which delves deeper into the many paths of chordless jazz. The album consists of original compositions by the group’s members, and features the legendary Swedish saxophonist Per ’Texas’ Johansson, who has contributed as both a musician and composer.

Music-critic at Lira, Peter Bornemar, called the album ””a solid album with tentacles reaching back through the jazz tradition, as far as the post-swing era.

Monday Jazz Happening järjestetään Turun konservatorion ja Jazz City Turku ry:n yhteistuotantona yhdessä Rica Barin kanssa. Tapahtuma käynnistää syksyllä 2024 jo 19. lukuvuotensa.

Monday Jazz Happeningissa ensimmäisen setin soittaa aina illan yhtye klo 19 alkaen, ja keikan jälkeen alkavat vapaat jamit. Maanantaijazzit ovat kaikille avoin tapahtuma ja sisäänpääsy on maksuton!
